Anatomy of Digestion Lobules Cup and Saucer
Regular price £40.00
The beautiful architecture of the lobules of the liver are represented on this cup and saucer as part of a unique range of fine china illustrating the anatomy and histology of the digestive system.
The microscopic structure of the liver reveals hexagonal shapes lobules bordered by a connective tissue septum. These feature portal triads containing vessels to supply oxygenated blood to the liver (hepatic artery), bring nutrients from the small intestine (portal vein), and bile ducts which collect the bile manufactured in the liver. The sinusoids drain blood to the central vein which carries processed blood back to the heart.
